
She enjoys creative problem solving with digital technologies. Currently, she is the Designer and Web Developer at the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics, a research institute housed at NYU. Her independent work involves design and development for artists and creative professionals.
Her photographs for Kiosk have appeared in I.D. magazine and the New York Times, among others. She is also one half of the photo team, AF Project.
Frances has taught courses in digital media and design at the Borough of Manhattan Community College (2009–11) and Katharine Gibbs School (2004–08), where she also served as acting chair of the Digital Media Department (2007–08). She previously held web design and digital photography positions at the Digital Library of the American Museum of Natural History, and was a digital studio assistant for Elyn Zimmerman.
Frances earned her MFA from the School of Visual Arts and her BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She embraces imperfections in her surroundings and enlists the concept wabi-sabi to describe her aesthetic aspirations.
